FALL FASHION LOOK BOOK!

Fall fashion in L.A. looks a lot like summer fashion in L.A.! We’re spoiled in California with its sunny days and 85 degree conditions, so when it gets cooler than 75 we all freak out! Here are my some of my favorite fashion pieces of the season … and ahem Black Friday sale steals!!! Because, pictures or it didn’t happen!

One of my favorite looks the ‘casual chic’ look. I wear this out to run errands and trek around the town in. I paired these high-waisted vegan leather leggings with a wrap around crop top and one of my favorite pieces – this maxi blazer. Blazers just make any outfit feel a bit more dressed up, and in juxtaposition of that, I completed this outfit with these Nike Thea running shoes. I’ve been pairing these shoes with a bunch of different looks lately, the style of it make them feel more formal, and in this case they serve to dress down the look in a casual chic kind of way.

Here’s a front view of this outfit … I call this pose the ‘flailing bird’. I like to throw myself into awkward positions when I’m posing in public, just makes it more fun for me when people begin to stare! These sunglasses have been a summer favorite of mine and I plan on wearing them on through next summer! Another accessory I’ve loved through the seasons is this Michael Kors purse, it’s sleek and classic, and one of my favorite color combinations – navy blue and gold.

What’s a Fall look book without including the ever coveted over-the-knee boots?! Of course when these babies went on sale I had to have them! I have these boots in tan also, but black boots feel more sleek when paired with other solid colors. This look I wear out to lunch meetings and when I’m feeling fancy enough to show off some bare midriff!

This look could be more casual if you paired the outfit with some booties and swapped the vest for a cardigan. I love putting together high waisted shorts with crop tops, especially if they are asymmetrical. This crop top has a higher neck line so a simple silver necklace and cat eye sunnies were all the accessories it needed. Besides, this moto vest was a great accessory on its own with silver hardware, zippers, and front snaps. Scalloped shorts like these Nasty Gal ones are great for every shape and size trust me! I’m short and I felt like the shape of these were perfect and weren’t cut at unflattering angles. Sheer tights and these thigh high boots complete the look for a trendy and sexy ensemble!

I saved the best for last! Take this look out on a date night, a girls night out, or if you’re just feeling like your sexy self! This is a more daring look with some classy, and casual, flare to it; featuring a strappy cut out bralette and high waisted scuba leggings.

If this feels like it’s more skin than you’d like to bare, have no fear, I brought back the maxi blazer to calm the nerves. This knee length skinny scarf also adds to the modesty of the top, drawing the eye to the classiness of the bow and not the lines in the triangle top. These scuba leggings are also a great way to bare less yet be more bold, they’re high waisted and feature a double buckle that you often see in dress pants. A wonderful addition to this look which also carry out the casualness of it, are these faux leather loafers. Shoes really do set the tempo for a look. These more casual shoes dress the outfit down more than a pair of pumps would. Have fun with it though and if you love your pumps, wear them like no one is watching … or is that dancing? (both!)

I hope you enjoyed this Fall look book, these were some of the pieces I picked up after Black Friday last week and I just had to share! If you’d like to see this in moving form, check out the look book over on my YouTube channel where I twirl like nobody’s business!

What are you most looking forward to this holiday season? The fashion? The food? Did you splurge on sales like I did?! Let me know and I’ll see you Friday with a festive beauty tutorial!

Fall Moodboard: Lifestyle with Corrine

Fall is my FAVORITE and being a Scorpio, rightfully so. With Summer in Los Angeles nearly over, my excitement and anticipation is already starting to settle in. In preparation of chunky knits, chelsea boots, and warm cups of cocoa, I have put together a charmingly simple fall mood board to inspire and create those warm fuzzy feels the season invokes. Disclaimer: the photos you see below are not owned by me in any shape or form. I have borrowed them from Pinterest for my own inspiration.

I hope these images inspired to get excited for Fall! Why not curate your own mood board? Fall is on its’ way and I can’t wait for its arrival!

xx, Corrine

BACK-TO-SCHOOL STYLE WITH CORRINE!

This post is promoted by Sears, and we’re happy to share Corrine’s back-to-school style for this year!

The new school year is almost here and whether your child is starting a new year at middle school, high school, or college, every parent knows that the most fun part about prepping for a new year …  is the shopping!

I remember when I was younger, my siblings and I would nag and beg our parents to take us school shopping because we just couldn’t wait to get new clothes, new shoes, and new supplies! It was the most exciting part about it all! We loved organizing our pencil cases and putting paper and folders into our new binders, and my sister and I especially loved picking out our outfits for the first day of school!

Corrine’s style is much different from mine at her age. I remember color coordinating purple and pink leg warmers to match my purple skirt and pink teeshirt! It was the style of the ’90s and I was all about that side pony tail … and in my defense, the side pony was the modern look of the times! Corrine is much more fashionable than I; she loves creating looks that fit her personality and that speak to the vintage side of her.

This year, her style was influenced by the ’70s and the ’70s modern revival that we’re seeing trend around, which inspired her to create this year’s theme. Since Sears is a great destination for sophisticated and stylish clothing, off we went!

This year’s theme is representative of Corrine’s love of vintage fashion, and she paired each look with some modern pieces to make them her own. We can thank Bongo Girls and Canyon River Blues for this look, featuring these high-waisted shorts, a simple tee, and this crochet fringe cardigan. She paired this ensemble with these black ankle booties and a bolo tie. (The booties are so versitile and you’ll see them again soon!)

The shorts in particular gave this outfit a ’70s revival feel; high waisted with a V-knotched zipper, Corrine loved how simple and classic this was. The “pardon moi” tee has short sleeves and keeps the aesthetic simple with its muted burgundy lettering. She reminded me that this cardigan is perfect for cold classroom temperatures, and that comfort is everything when choosing campus walking shoes.

Keeping with the ’70s theme for this second ensemble, Corrine paired these black Bongo Girls skinny jeans with this white, loose-fit peplum blouse. She brought back the black booties since they pair so easily with everything, and topped the look off with a very simple yet edgy choice for an accessory. She tied a black-and-white bandana around her neck instead of opting for a simple necklace, and added a few stacked rings to fit this relaxed theme.

Corrine jumped for joy over these pieces, and I jumped for joy since we paid under $100 for both of these outfits! What made me most happy was how excited she was to put these looks together! They represent her funky and relaxed personality, and she has a special way of adding her own personal edge to everything she wears. Proud mama over here!

Leave us a comment below telling us what your themed style for this school year will be, and check out how Sassy Dove styled her child’s outfit on her blog soon! All these mamas inspiring me to start styling more!

Thank you for checking in and we’ll see you later this week with our Summer Skin Care Favorites!

REDEFINING WARDROBE BASICS WITH CORRINE

I recently ventured out in search of a closet spruce up. I stumbled upon this season’s plethora of new basics and style must have pieces that I decided needed a place in my closet. On my short excursion I found a variety of styles I would deem “basics” due to their simple, tailored and sophisticated aspects that I find essential to my closet.

Mustard Oversized Crewneck

Mustard is such a rich, forgiving color that it suits every skin tone. Pair it with endless combinations featuring your favorite shorts, moto jacket and crisp white Converse.

Basics #4

Oversized Babydoll Dress

A flowy, oversized babydoll dress is in my book, essential for the warm seasons. I typically pair it my favorite bag, gold necklaces and vintage cowboy boots. It’s a fool proof look for any day out. Although this one isn’t on your everyday must haves list, its fresh and simple, and you can’t go wrong!

Basics #3

Long Maroon Cardigan

Cardigans are my favorite. Simply because they are so versatile, so easily dressed up, dressed down, layer-able and require hardly any effort to style. The possibilities here are endless, and for that reason, cardigans are on the forefront of wardrobe basics. Long cardigans especially, hold a special place in my heart for their easily achievable, effortless look that comes with wearing them with just about everything. Pair it with bell bottoms and ankle booties, a simple tank and some necklaces or a bandana and you’re good to go.

Basics #2: 70's Revival

Cropped Black Button Up
I can’t stress my love for button ups enough! A distunguished, tailored look is easily mastered with these. Wear them alongside your favorite pair of jeans, skirts, and shorts. OR, go for something with a little twist, pair it under a pinafore for an artfully mastered chic appearance.

Basics #1

As you can probably tell, there’s a pattern to these looks. The 70’s revival is coming back. Aside from these funky basics, try a pair of vintage ankle boots, fringe backpacks and suede anything.

Happy Monday xo, Corrine

If the shoe fits

If the shoe fits!

Wear it! With everything am I right?! <—- I should totally do stand up! So style watch… here we go, let’s do this Fall style! *Still doing that Fall evoking thing over here in L.A.* Today I’m going to show you how you can wear one pair of shoes, three different ways this season, and yes with open toe heels! I took my current favorite pair of pumps, these Calvin Klein Vivian patent snake print sandals, and styled them three different ways. And even though it’s getting cooler out, there are a ton of ways you can still get away with wearing your open toed pumps this Fall season!

Take this look out to a brunch meeting or just to a night out with the girls, I call this the ‘casual ballerina’ look. Taking casual to another level here with this JustFab Mandy jumpsuit, which is comfortable and cute with it’s zip up front (and back), and front pockets. I wore this out with my Calvin Klein’s, and even though it’s getting cooler out, the jumper and jacket keep me warm enough. These heels are 4″ leather heels with the daintiest of pronounced platforms, are covered in a sleek snake print, and have a strap that wraps around your ankle. To top the look off I wore this faux leather Easy Jacket also by JF, and to keep the whole ‘ballerina’ thing going, I did the ‘off duty ballerina’ top knot accessorized with this beautiful beaded Free People headpiece. The makeup featured is the ‘line dance’ makeup look, and to see how I did it, head on over to my beauty channel here and watch the tutorial! It took all of five minutes to do! I hope you like it!

Prance around an event in this ensemble or just around – out on your next date night, I call this the ‘sporty chic’ …. and yes I am wearing sparkly ankle socks with these heels! Open toed heels worn with socks are all the rage this coming season! Hey Beyonce did it, so we can totalllyyyy pull it off! I really like how the ankle socks add a bit of edge to the look (and keep my toesies warm), and I kept it girly with this checkered scuba skirt and lace top. If it were a bit colder out, I’d just top this look off with a nice denim jacket and bam ready to dance the night away!

And this look…. which we’ll call the ‘business girl gone bad’ ….because one, I like naming things and two, because I feel like it’s something I’d wear to the office and then run off to an event in! Also take note of this pose, it’s apparently my most favorite pose to do ever. Not sure what it is I’m doing with my arms but we’ll go with it.

So even though it’s windy out, I can still wear my heels so long as I wear these sheer floral tights….and a warm jacket. I’m a bit obsessed with printed tights these days! But for good reason! They’re just so cute with my sandals, and in this JF dress I’m feelin foxy!!! Foxy is still a thing kids say these days right? Well I was feeling foxy and fabulous! I accessorized the look with black chandelier earrings and since the dress has front slits in it I decided no necklace was neccessary. Instead, I slipped on a chunky ring and off I went!

So three fun looks, for three different occasions, styled with one pair of sexy heels. Gotta love how creative us ladies can get when the season changes! Beyond all of the recipes I can cook up that include pumpkin puree, I also love my layers. I’m telling you, Fall season tis the best season! What do you love most about the Fall? About the change in weather? P.S. I say there are no rules in fashion, wear what makes you feel confident! Unless they’re flip flops…..I would say to stay away from socks and flip flops whenever possible 😉

Thanks for sharing in my themed fashion tour today, and I’ll see you soon with another look combining a hairstyle and makeup look you’ll see this Fall! Click here to check out the latest in my series and happy pumpkin spicing!

Fall look 2: The Line Dance and The Off Duty Ballerina!

Hello! Welcome back for part 2 of 6 of our #StayingOnTrend&StickingToABudget Fall inspired look book! Each week I’m taking one makeup trend and one hairstyle trend that you’ll see this Fall and putting them together with a full look! Today is a sleek and simple look, taking the top knot and the smokey eye and pairing them together for a casual business meeting.

The ‘line dance’ makeup look is just like your everyday liner look, which ever you choose as your go to- it’s just a bit heavier and more consistent in form, with pencil on top pencil on bottom, or liquid on top liquid on bottom. Whether you wing it out, make the line thin or thick, it’s all about the liner and less about the rest of the face. I opted to go with my pencil kohl liner on both top and bottom, and per the usual I would wing it out a bit at the ends but this time I didn’t. Instead I smudged it with a slanted brush and swept a golden brown color under my bottom lashes, kept my lips pretty neutral, and also unlike me, I PUT MY HAIR UP! Like what?!

Yes I totally put my hair up today! I’m a hair down kinda girl….everyday. But this ‘off duty ballerina’ is just a top knot, clean version of a bun. More sleek, less loose pieces, more spray! It took me about 30 seconds to achieve this top bun and about 30 pounds of hairspray 😉 I used my fingers to comb through my hair pulling it all up in a pony tail and then by method of ‘twist, turn, tuck’ I achieved the look you see here 😀 Then I popped on my Free People head piece and my hair and makeup was done!

For my outfit to go with this hair and makeup look, I kept it casual and comfortable with my JustFab jumper and jacket, and my Calvin Klein snake print pumps. Best day look and in under ten minutes from head to toe, I think I’ve accomplished the impossible! For the tutorial on this look, head on over to my beauty channel here where I show you step by five minute step just how to get this look, and all under $20! I used all drug store brand makeup with the exception of my eye liner which is from Makeup Forever. For the life of me I couldn’t find my Revlon one bah!

Makeup items for this look:
Sonia Kashuk Luminous foundation in Buff Chamois
Pro Conceal concealer in light
Makeup Forever eyeliner pencil in Zero
Physicians Formula Shimmer Palette
Loreal Voluminous black mascara by Miss Manga
ELF contouring blush and bronzing powder duo
EOS lip balm
Dove hairspray

Thank you for sharing part of your afternoon with me! Happy Fall makeup happenings and I’ll see you next week for ‘Bare Minimum’ and the ‘Gym Sleek’, oh yes….the gym sleek. Let’s do this!

Bear hugs,

Jess

A Collection Styled by me! Ahhh!

I’m still screaming over this! I am so so excited to finally share with you a collection that I curated, all of the styles I love and wear. From picking out the outfits myself, to styling them, naming them, and hand writing out their packaging post cards, I’m beyond over joyed to give to you my #Glamistree collection.

If you’ve ever liked anything about my style, you can now shop the entire look featured, or individually pick out your favorite pieces. I had such a blast with my team going downtown L.A. and finding the perfect spots to photograph each look.

Ever since I started my channel back in  2009 I’ve always wanted to do something that was very close to me, something I could launch that I really stood behind….a makeup line, a skincare line, a clothing line…something. And this is it!

How did it all start?? Well by the power of the internet, Glamistree reached out to me about doing a collaboration, but we were both wondering how we could merge the two brands so that they stayed true to each original concept. Then I was like hey I love fashion (never said I was great at it, but I know what I love) and they’re like hey we DO fashion! I loved so much that they wanted this to be a very personal experience for me and for my audience. They made sure everything was true to my brand from the packaging and postcards, down to the details of each look.

So then I got to shop their entire warehouse, from existing styles to not yet featured ones, and let me tell ya, I was in fashion Heaven!!! To be able to touch each dress, and get a feel for the fabric and the quality, and to put my own personality and brand behind them makes me so unbelievably proud.

After I chose out my favorite 15 looks of my first collection, I then styled each of them as I would wear them personally. I hand picked all of the accessories from head bands to bangles, I named them quirky names like the “Purrrfectly Blanc Bombshell”, and then wrote out each description for each look. The last step in putting this all together was taking the outfits downtown and photographing them in all the beautiful places there. Viktorija Pashuta was our photographer and I’m absolutely obsessed with her, she made me feel so comfortable and I love the photos so much!

My most favorite part about teaming up with Glamistree is our “Try before you buy” policy! You get to try up to 2 looks for up to 5 days, in the comfort of your home, at no charge. I love this because you get to try on the entire look and make up your mind without the pressure of purchasing something you’re not in LOVE with! And you’ll love them all, I promise, I know I do! You can then pick and choose piece by piece your favorite items, or buy the entire look!

Another amazing thing is that Glamistree is not a subscription service so unlike a lot of other fashion sites out there, you’re not paying to check out any of my collections. I really love that. I don’t think anyone should have to pay for something they don’t love because I know I wouldn’t.

And lastly, but the most important part of all of this to me, is that I get to give back. Not heavily advertised (because at what point do I share with the world what I want to do with my brand, like really do with it), is that a percentage of my proceeds will be donated to supporting shelters that help women and children escape abusive homes. I don’t think anyone knows this about me unless they know my past, something I don’t talk about a lot but would like to start doing. I know what it’s like to be in an abusive home. I know why people, both men and women, stay in them. I know what it’s like to be depressed and have no one to talk to or turn to. And I know what it’s like to feel trapped like you have no where to go.

So it makes me so happy to share with you a collection I’m so close to, and a cause that I’m so passionate about. Thank you for always supporting what I do, watching my videos, reading my words, and now dressing yourself in styles picked out by me, and thank you for supporting causes I hold dear to my heart.

You can check out my entire collection by clicking here, so head on over to the site, and please tag me (@jess_lizama and @glamistree) with the hashtag #Jess&Glamistree so I can see how beautiful you look in the looks and how you chose to style them yourself!

This is my Glamistree Glam squad! My daughter Corrine (who also shot all the BTS), my new all time favorite people Monique, and Ash, and this is us doing a ‘that’s a wrap’ jump! I love them all so much and I’m so honored to be a part of it all, thank you Ash and Monique for this opportunity!

A sneak peak at some of the looks I put together up on the site now. Check out the names I gave them 😉 You’ll love the descriptions even more!

Because I can never be serious.

 All the love,

 Jess

Weekend sunforgettable moments

See what I did there? 😉 I know, I’m pretty smooth right. So this weekend we joined my FLAMA fam bam at Uforia fest in LA where we saw performances by Becky G., Kid Cudi, and others and it was a blast! I love festival season, I love festival crowds, the food, the dancing, and the fashion! Lets hold hands and frolic on the grass.

So if you didn’t know, I have a YouTube channel, click here to check it out, and well I have 3 of them actually. And I love that I’m able to work with the amazing companies like Univision where I get to create original content for them on FLAMA, all the while working with some of my uber talented friends, some of which you see here <3

This is my Joe, Steve Greene, Nikki Limo (she’s my most favorite) and Eric Jimenez.

So before I jump into all of our Uforia fest.  shenanigans, and how we really did frolic around, let me tell you the goods first. What I had with me, on me, annnnd in my fanny pack. Ha I love that thing! So first thing’s first, I am a tan girl who loves being tan but hates the sun on my face. I’ll be the ONLY one on the beach under an umbrella and covered up like it’s winter…in the middle of summer.

1. So of course I bring a big ol’ floppy hat with me like this here. I love that it shades my face, keeps the sun out of my eyes, and also goes great with my get up! Winning!

2. The perfect plum rose colored round Lauren Conrad sunnies here. My friend and celebrity stylist Lindsay Albanese gave these to me, I love adding the celebrity stylist to her name because I’m so stinkin proud to call her a friend. andshestylesmeyayyy! They’re stylish, give ultraviolet protection, and shade my eyes so I’m not squinting all day.

3. I won’t leave home without sunscreen. And my wallet. I love this Colorescience SPF 50 powder sunscreen here, because it’s perfect sized, you just toss it in your bag or tote and you’re always protected. Literally. I love that it’s a powder so I can dust it over my makeup and it takes away the shine and gives me sun protection. I even get Joe to put it on because he hates lotions. Trickin’ him to wear sunscreen one day at a time 😉

4. Also a festival favorite of mine are these Bath & Body Works spearmint lip shine here, and their mini hand sanitizer here. Because one, a lip gloss is a girl’s go to, and two, well the bathroom sitch at these kinds of events can leave you feeling mooky and like you need to take a bath in some sanitzer.

5. Fun festive bangles like these here, also a gift from Lindsay, they were pearl colored and I loved how they were the perfect accent to the color in my kimono! Accessories accessories.

6. Breezy, colorful, patterned kimono because well it’s not a festival without a kimono in my opinion. I love the flow of them, how they pair well with everything, and they can take a super casual outfit and dress it up just a bit. Fun flare! I got this one at a crafts fair but any colorful kimono will do the job!

7. And last but definitely not least, this light up headband is everything. Also a gift from Lindsay…yes she’s an angel actually. I felt like such a fire fly floating around the grounds with my glow in the dark floral head piece. I was a fairy guys. A real fairy! I’m not sure where she got this one, but if you pop ‘light up floral headband’ into google, you’ll find a ton! They’re the most fun to have at any night time outdoor event.

Okay, now back to the shenangians! Oh, PS I kept almost all of this in a fanny pack. It was a definite must have!

Okay okay, so this is me and Jocelyn, she won the Flama contest and we got to spend the day with her filming all kinds of fun stuff including a sriracha taco eating contest, and spoiler alert…I WON! hahaha Video will be live on their channel soon! Check out other comedy sketches I created from them here

Some things we did besides laugh our butts off and film a ton of fun sketches, we dancing around to music, Nikki and I frolicked on the grass like hummingbirds, yes an oxymoron I know, we were having so much fun! Eating all the food from the food trucks, partaking in beverage drinking, singing, dancing, and merriment. I love festivals.

And this is me walking to the car before the festival, please note my fanny pack just casually on my hip and my headband ready to go! So much fun! If we met at the Uforia festival and you got a picture with me, please tag me (@jess_lizama) on Twitter or Instagram, I’d love to make a collage with them!

I hope you get to go out to at least one festival this summer, let me know in the comments if you are or if you have! I love hearing stories!

Hugs from me to you,

Jess

Style Watch with Pop Basic

Basics are all you need to dress up or dress down for any event and today’s style watch features Pop Basic and how I styled myself in this business chic outfit for an occasion.

This week I did a guest spot on Inside The Noise, a radio station hosted by two hilarious and witty actors, Chrissy and Barry right here in L.A.  I thought, oh I don’t need to dress up or anything it’s just my voice. But then I thought, wait, they’re going to do photos and behind the scenes video, so I decided that I should probably put myself together.

I went with a business chic lil number, and if you know me than you know I love being comfortable but there are times when I have to be trendy and professional, and this is my happy medium. I’ve been talking about Pop Basic for the past few weeks because it’s something I recently discovered, so if we’re friends and you’ve already heard this spiel it’s ok, love me still 😉

So unlike a normal subscription you hear about where they pester you each month, Pop Basic is something you check in at your leisure for their latest and greatest collections, and it’s an awesome way to stay trendy but in the comfort of your own style preferences. I like being trendy but I struggle with it because being comfortable is just too strong of an emotion for me. So this month when I saw the basics they are featuring, I just really enjoyed the colors and how I knew I could style them so many different ways.

They feature micro collections each month and this month is the Paloma collection, with it’s grey leather clutch, and featuring a rose gold zipper. I accessorized this outfit with the Paloma clutch, and I don’t usually wear clutches because they’re too small to carry most of my things, but this clutch is pretty spacey.

For the outfit itself, I took the Pop Basic white tee, tied it up on the side since my skirt is pretty scrunchy on one side, and paired it with my black asymmetrical skirt. Over top I threw on my Forever 21 black blazer, wore my Steve Madden strapped DeJaVu pumps, and popped on this beautiful necklace my friend Lindsay Albanese gave me. I finished off this business-y chic-y (is that a word?) look with my Urban Outfitters sunnies and off I went!

Not featured in this photo is the 3rd basic that came in this month’s Pop Basic delivery, a grey striped infinity scarf. It’s a bit warm here in L.A. so I opted out of the scarf, but when I do style it with an outfit, I’ll be sure to show you what I do with it! Each month they also send you a lil make up goodie as a treat and this month I got a strawberry lip gloss that doubles as an awesome lip balm!

Probably the only fashion thing I’m fairly good at is dressing up and dressing down my basics, they’re versatile and no matter how you outfit them, they’re comfortable and that’s important to me. What’s your favorite style of clothing to wear, your go to look?

I’ll link everything I’m wearing just click on the item in my description and it’ll let you shop the look. Pop Basic also has a referral program so here is mine to you 😀 $15 your collection here! And they offer free shipping world wide so if you get the Paloma collection, tag me on Twitter or Instagram so I can see how you styled your basics!

So that’s my style watch for today, see you next week when I’ll talk about crop tops and how obsessed I am with them. Any styles you obsessed with as of lately? Let me know, I love hearing from you all! Oh and if you want to see me talking about this in my video blog, it’s live on my YouTube channel here

Have a beautiful day!

Jess
