I always find a way to incorporate my sense of style into everything I do…..including sports! Today I share with you this week’s goals and all of the week’s happenings…while wearing colorful kicks! I’ve been following the #ATTProAm which is being held just a hop and a skip away from where I am in L.A., and some incredible things have happened this week!
Let’s catch you up – I’ve been following the Foursome: Tim, Katie, Tiffany, and Dan who are receiving the VIP treatment for a Fan’s Eye View at this year’s #ATTProAm. You can follow them via twitter @TimLangGolf, @KtHorsford, @BlackGirlsGolf and @TheDanPlan.
This week I got to ask them each a few questions that I’m so excited to share with you! Some things they participated in this past week so far, besides an up close and personal experience during the event, they had the opportunity to meet with Veterans at the VTC Monterey and helped deliver food. They got to interact with kids at the Boys & Girls Club and be inspired by those they inspire, and they got to tee off on one of the most beautiful courses I’ve ever seen!
I’ve been so motivated by their stories and found that I relate to each of them in a different way but in a way that reminds me that we are all so similar in life’s struggles and in life goals. So I decided to set some fun goals for myself this week!
My goal was to play the course in as few strokes as possible…which for me is usually an embarrassing 4+ strokes per hole. Starting off with a reasonable yet attainable goal for myself….that is key. So I took my skills out onto the golf course….yes that is a Putt Putt course. You have to start somewhere right, and for me it was just fun to focus on the basics of form and swing.
Golfing during the day with no one around, I was really able to experience how a sport like golf- when appreciated, can be so calming as it requires great focus and attention. It’s easy to find the appeal in it even if I’m not so great at it. I think people love it for that challenge and the competitiveness of it when playing against someone or in a competition. It takes strategy but it’s also fun. It doesn’t hurt that the sport is played outside, on a beautiful field, where you can also enjoy being surrounded by nature…I especially love that part of it. Here is my ‘happy nature’ smile.
Please be sure to check out the bios on each of the Foursome and see what about the sport they love so much!

Be sure to follow them for their event wrap ups! I’m looking forward to seeing what their favorite moments were! See you next week with more on next week’s goals!

This post is in partnership with AT&T, celebrating 30 years of the #ATTPROAM.
Sometimes you don’t have to travel far to explore new sights, sometimes they’re just a hop and a skip away. This hop and skip was a quick 20 minute drive East, to Old Pasadena. The main street is full of shops, restaurants, and art galleries. It was the perfect change of scenery to round out the weekend!
First stop after walking around for a bit was 800 Degrees – offering up Neapolitan style hand tossed pizzas, drizzled in extra virgin olive oil, and sprinkled with imported Italian tomatoes. Perfect if you’re looking for a sit down pizzeria that features gourmet ingredients. Oh and it was sooo delicious! Crispy, cheesy, and their truffle pizza with mushrooms and arugula on top (featured above) is on my top 10 list of best pizzas ever!
Of course Corrine got her favorite Root Beer, old fashioned and bubbly!
After lunch we walked around a bit, walking off the pizza and root beer, and found room for dessert of course! Lette’s Macarons drew us in with it’s sweet aroma of the classic almond treat. We got an assorted hand picked box and couldn’t have been more happy with the flavors! Chewy and just the right amount of sweet and savory. Of course we took a ton of pictures along the way….posing, always posing!
If you’re looking for a quick change of pace and are in the L.A. area, take a trip out to Old Pasadena, so many hidden treasures, shops, and old fashioned eateries. If you’re coming to L.A. I’d say make this one of the places you see before you leave!
I hope your weekend was awesome, let me know what kind of adventures you went on!
For all of my fellow athletes and sports fans out there, this one’s for you! I’m so thrilled to be covering some of the excitement happening this year over at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and sharing them with you!
Let’s catch you up: this is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour,
held annually – every February, in Pebble Beach, California (wahooo that’s close to me!)
What does that mean? If you follow the sport of golf than you know that this is a pretty exciting time! What’s even more exciting is that this year, AT&T has invited four golf fans to the tournament to cover it from the fan’s perspective. More on why I’m so happy to have this Foursome represent all of us shortly.
So this February is the 30th year that AT&T is the title sponsor for the event, and they’re making it a special one by having this awesome Foursome come out to experience the event first hand! So if you aren’t able to make it out this year you’ll still be able to experience what it’s like to be there and what makes this tournament one of a kind.
I connected instantly with each of the four fans through their stories and I’ll explain why. First let me just say that they make we want to take my PutPut status to Professional!
Let me introduce you to the awesome Foursome that were invited out to the event and why I’m so excited to have them represent us while they’re there!
Meet Dan McLaughlin:
Dan quit his day job as a commercial photographer (can I get a high five because we’ve all wanted to do this at some point but were too afraid to) to pursue golf professionally. I know first hand how scary it is to abandon a constant to pursue a dream. Dan spent 30+ hours a week practicing and perfecting a method he calls the ‘Dan Plan’. I’m excited to ask him what the ‘Dan Plan’ is and share with you his secret!
Meet Katie Horsford:
Katie is 17 years old who has utilized golf as an outlet for her personal growth and as a motivational tool towards building her self esteem and personal identity. Like most teenagers her age, she found that navigating her way through life could be difficult and full of confusion. This is actually one of the reasons I pulled my daughter (also 17) out of high school after her sophomore year. However, through the sport Katie has developed into a confident and strong young lady and welcomes this exclusive opportunity, knowing that it’s one step closer to playing at Pebble Beach herself. I’m really excited to get to sit down with her and ask what her goals for this year are.
Meet Tiffany Fitzgerald:
Tiffany left corporate America to take on an important leadership role. She founded the site, blackgirlsgolf.net, where she provides hands on instructions, ladies-only golf outings, and a supportive atmosphere for growth. As a woman of color, I am so happy to discover other women empowering one another and supporting one another in an encouraging way. She offers the education you need to be able to participate in conversation that you would’ve maybe have been intimidated by before. I’m excited to ask her what motivated her to become leader of such an amazing movement.
Meet Tim Lang:
Tim is a Marine Veteran who after being terribly injured by an IED explosion in Iraq, utilized golfing as an amazing healing source and form of rehabilitation. He is a motivational speaker and is extremely inspirational to anyone who hears his story. He defied the odds and attacked his training with amazing perseverance and strength. I’m most drawn to his story because I grew up in the military world. My dad was a Drill Sergeant in the Army for 23 years, served tours abroad, and when he retired he found his peace in the sport of fishing.
I’m so inspired by each of their four stories and I can’t wait to experience all of the awesome things they’ll see and do while at Pebble Beach this year. The Foursome will utilize HTC devices and the AT&T Network to document their journey and share via social media during their week at the #ATTPROAM, and some things we can look forward to being documented are:
The Foursome playing in the Boys & Girls Club Pro-AM
Walking THE course with the Pebble Beach Historian
Teeing off on the iconic Pebble Beach course
Experiencing a meet & greet with pro golfer, Jordan Spieth
Not to mention they’ll also get to chat with some celebrities and help raise money for charity Golf pros! How amazing does all of this sound?! That’s just a splice of the activities that they’ll be participating in and documenting next month, so be sure to follow along on their journey as they share it all with us via social media. You can keep up with the Foursome via their Twitter handles and by following the #ATTProAm hashtag:
I’m beyond thrilled to share with you their responses to some questions I have for each of them and to get a more personal look at these four; as they get a more personal look at the #ATTPROAM for us! So stay tuned for an exclusive sit down with them and please follow them on Twitter (profile handles above), and you’ll use #ATTPROAM to keep up to speed with all of the happenings!
“The more relaxed you are, the better you are at everything: the better you are with your loved ones, the better you are with enemies, the better you are at your job, the better you are with yourself.” – Bill Murray
Have a great week!!!

[Tweet “Show me some love and tweet my post <3"]
This post is in partnership with AT&T. Brought to you by AT&T, celebrating 30 years of the #ATTPROAM. All opinions expressed in this post are my own as with everything I bring to you.
Here’s an oldie but goodie from my Corriney who writes for our mother/daughter blog and sometimes for me here. Thought I’d share her post with you since everything she does makes me such a proud momma. So here is some of her awesomeness on photography and art, and if you aren’t following her words on that blog, please do. She wrote:
Here are some snaps from my eventful day of filming.
If you didn’t know, I love art and I love making it too. I died from happiness a little when I saw this poster that said “Paint or Die”. Nice, nice, props to you friend, whoever posted this. Really though, paint or die. x______x
This whole wall was filllllled with posters and graffiti, stickers and paintings. People just pile it on, layer after layer so you can still see some paintings that were once there underneath it, too.
Also, spotted the love of my life while I was there. This beautiful Husky baby named Cash, just hanging out on his second floor window.
He was so so precious, I just wanted to give him a great big hug. Spot the tag at the right, just beneath the window? It says #HewittHusky. I googled it and yeah, he has his own twitter account. That melted my heart, I tell ya. One guy walking down the street told us the dog’s name and that he thinks he’s a mountain goat. Awwwwwww.
This day showed me a lot of adventure. it was easy to get lost and forget about myself, to float around like a ghost for a little while. I love blending into my surroundings, and I must say, this space felt like home. I see myself in this place in the future.
I’m raising a teenager guys! Pretty crazy right? My daughter is 17 years old. I have to say this over and over to people sometimes and I still can’t believe it myself. Post coming soon on what it’s like to have her go to college soon and my empty nesting! I get asked a lot about my skin care regime and lifestyle since I’m no longer in my 20’s but still have 20 something skin (all hail the eye cream). I have a video on this that goes into detail about routines and the importance of drinking water and getting rest, but it’s also genetic. Genes and lifestyle are the two main components I believe in skincare. Prevention prevention prevention!
Here are my current obsessions:
I was the face of this amazing campaign called the “ACURE pop up challenge” (see the whole series HERE) where I skipped around L.A. talking to strangers about skin care and if they knew what was really going on their skin and in their bodies. We talked to people of all ages at farmer’s markets, at colleges, and from all walks of life. You’d be surprised how clueless we can all be when it comes to ingredients…yours truly included.
I fell in love with this company, what the brand stands for, and the story behind their products. If you love organic, all natural, and putting pure ingredients on your skin, hair, and eventually into your body, give this brand a try.
Of course get your rest, drink a ton of water (I’m talking at least a gallon a day), be active, be well, be happy! And your skin, your body, your energy- will all reflect that. Follow my advice and your glowing skin will thank me later 😉 And speaking of thanking (is that a word?), I want to thank all of you always supporting my work, and 10 of you personally – so I’m giving away TEN Acure Organics kits to the first 10 people to share this post on your social media!
Have a beautiful week! See you later this week, right back here, to talk fad dieting, working out, and the other ‘F’ word….fruit. lol. More on that soon!
xoxo- Jess

New year, new beginnings, new goals. We’re all setting them so lets share what our goals are and any updates….. accountability is everything! So here are some goals of mine for this year and you can crack the whip on me if I slack up on one of them:
3 blog posts a week (alternating 6 of my most passionate topics)
stick to it (anything and everything and this includes being active)
family time (and me time, this is necessary and I should do more of this)
a video a week on my YouTube channel and Beauty channel
read more (20 minutes before bed each night)
give time to my friends (dedicate time each week to empower another friend of mine)
So share with me what your goals are this year, if you have a blog, the name of it so I can check in with you, and where you draw the most inspiration. I’m inspired by different things every day and today it was my daughter coming home from school and asking me to paint with her. She inspires me to be creative. In the drawing world and even though I suck at it, she makes me feel so talented!
Updates: My app (in the app store and totally free!) is going through some awesome updates and new features are rolling out each month. Download it if you haven’t and join our community of creatives!

Hope to see you in the app and hearing your goals for this year! Have a beautiful week!
Happy new yeearrrr! Sorry for the lack of posts here but I like to post when I have something to say not just post to post. But I finally have words to say! Wahooo for getting over this sicky feeling, got the flu over NYE and still fighting it but I missed blogging so here I am. Onward with the new year, I love that each year NYE brings on new possibilities in the year to come, new goals to set and achieve, and new starts. It really does remind us though that any day we can start over, set new goals, or begin again. 2014 was an incredible year. Probably one of the best I’ve had in a while. I accomplished a lot of things this year both personally and professionally. You all had something to do with that too, so thank you for coming back to check in on my posts, share in my videos, and participate on social media. This space can be overwhelming at times, but so rewarding when you think about what it is that we really do. I crossed some things off my bucket list this past year, held on to my courage, let go of some people in my life that were toxic to me, and strayed from my comfort zone which was a good thing. This year I resolve to blog at least twice a week, post on my beauty channel twice a week and on my main channel twice a week, whewww that’s a lot of posts! But I can do it, just have to take focus from other projects and redirect them back to my own business. I also need to learn how to take a day to rest. Like really rest. From work, from working out (this too I started on the 1st, like a real plan that I’ll stick to like for reals), and just let my well refill. We have to remember to do that especially being creatives, we get burnt out. A lot. So I hope your new year had a kick ass kick start, I hope this year is incredible for you, set goals, give yourself a break sometimes, and remember that each day is a new chance. All the hugs, Jess xoxoxo
I’m still screaming over this! I am so so excited to finally share with you a collection that I curated, all of the styles I love and wear. From picking out the outfits myself, to styling them, naming them, and hand writing out their packaging post cards, I’m beyond over joyed to give to you my #Glamistree collection.
If you’ve ever liked anything about my style, you can now shop the entire look featured, or individually pick out your favorite pieces. I had such a blast with my team going downtown L.A. and finding the perfect spots to photograph each look. Ever since I started my channel back in 2009 I’ve always wanted to do something that was very close to me, something I could launch that I really stood behind….a makeup line, a skincare line, a clothing line…something. And this is it! How did it all start?? Well by the power of the internet, Glamistree reached out to me about doing a collaboration, but we were both wondering how we could merge the two brands so that they stayed true to each original concept. Then I was like hey I love fashion (never said I was great at it, but I know what I love) and they’re like hey we DO fashion! I loved so much that they wanted this to be a very personal experience for me and for my audience. They made sure everything was true to my brand from the packaging and postcards, down to the details of each look. So then I got to shop their entire warehouse, from existing styles to not yet featured ones, and let me tell ya, I was in fashion Heaven!!! To be able to touch each dress, and get a feel for the fabric and the quality, and to put my own personality and brand behind them makes me so unbelievably proud. After I chose out my favorite 15 looks of my first collection, I then styled each of them as I would wear them personally. I hand picked all of the accessories from head bands to bangles, I named them quirky names like the “Purrrfectly Blanc Bombshell”, and then wrote out each description for each look. The last step in putting this all together was taking the outfits downtown and photographing them in all the beautiful places there. Viktorija Pashuta was our photographer and I’m absolutely obsessed with her, she made me feel so comfortable and I love the photos so much! My most favorite part about teaming up with Glamistree is our “Try before you buy” policy! You get to try up to 2 looks for up to 5 days, in the comfort of your home, at no charge. I love this because you get to try on the entire look and make up your mind without the pressure of purchasing something you’re not in LOVE with! And you’ll love them all, I promise, I know I do! You can then pick and choose piece by piece your favorite items, or buy the entire look! Another amazing thing is that Glamistree is not a subscription service so unlike a lot of other fashion sites out there, you’re not paying to check out any of my collections. I really love that. I don’t think anyone should have to pay for something they don’t love because I know I wouldn’t. And lastly, but the most important part of all of this to me, is that I get to give back. Not heavily advertised (because at what point do I share with the world what I want to do with my brand, like really do with it), is that a percentage of my proceeds will be donated to supporting shelters that help women and children escape abusive homes. I don’t think anyone knows this about me unless they know my past, something I don’t talk about a lot but would like to start doing. I know what it’s like to be in an abusive home. I know why people, both men and women, stay in them. I know what it’s like to be depressed and have no one to talk to or turn to. And I know what it’s like to feel trapped like you have no where to go. So it makes me so happy to share with you a collection I’m so close to, and a cause that I’m so passionate about. Thank you for always supporting what I do, watching my videos, reading my words, and now dressing yourself in styles picked out by me, and thank you for supporting causes I hold dear to my heart. You can check out my entire collection by clicking here, so head on over to the site, and please tag me (@jess_lizama and @glamistree) with the hashtag #Jess&Glamistree so I can see how beautiful you look in the looks and how you chose to style them yourself!
This is my Glamistree Glam squad! My daughter Corrine (who also shot all the BTS), my new all time favorite people Monique, and Ash, and this is us doing a ‘that’s a wrap’ jump! I love them all so much and I’m so honored to be a part of it all, thank you Ash and Monique for this opportunity!
A sneak peak at some of the looks I put together up on the site now. Check out the names I gave them 😉 You’ll love the descriptions even more!
See what I did there? 😉 I know, I’m pretty smooth right. So this weekend we joined my FLAMA fam bam at Uforia fest in LA where we saw performances by Becky G., Kid Cudi, and others and it was a blast! I love festival season, I love festival crowds, the food, the dancing, and the fashion! Lets hold hands and frolic on the grass.
So if you didn’t know, I have a YouTube channel, click here to check it out, and well I have 3 of them actually. And I love that I’m able to work with the amazing companies like Univision where I get to create original content for them on FLAMA, all the while working with some of my uber talented friends, some of which you see here <3
This is my Joe, Steve Greene, Nikki Limo (she’s my most favorite) and Eric Jimenez. So before I jump into all of our Uforia fest. shenanigans, and how we really did frolic around, let me tell you the goods first. What I had with me, on me, annnnd in my fanny pack. Ha I love that thing! So first thing’s first, I am a tan girl who loves being tan but hates the sun on my face. I’ll be the ONLY one on the beach under an umbrella and covered up like it’s winter…in the middle of summer. 1. So of course I bring a big ol’ floppy hat with me like this here. I love that it shades my face, keeps the sun out of my eyes, and also goes great with my get up! Winning! 2. The perfect plum rose colored round Lauren Conrad sunnies here. My friend and celebrity stylist Lindsay Albanese gave these to me, I love adding the celebrity stylist to her name because I’m so stinkin proud to call her a friend. andshestylesmeyayyy! They’re stylish, give ultraviolet protection, and shade my eyes so I’m not squinting all day. 3. I won’t leave home without sunscreen. And my wallet. I love this Colorescience SPF 50 powder sunscreen here, because it’s perfect sized, you just toss it in your bag or tote and you’re always protected. Literally. I love that it’s a powder so I can dust it over my makeup and it takes away the shine and gives me sun protection. I even get Joe to put it on because he hates lotions. Trickin’ him to wear sunscreen one day at a time 😉 4. Also a festival favorite of mine are these Bath & Body Works spearmint lip shine here, and their mini hand sanitizer here. Because one, a lip gloss is a girl’s go to, and two, well the bathroom sitch at these kinds of events can leave you feeling mooky and like you need to take a bath in some sanitzer. 5. Fun festive bangles like these here, also a gift from Lindsay, they were pearl colored and I loved how they were the perfect accent to the color in my kimono! Accessories accessories. 6. Breezy, colorful, patterned kimono because well it’s not a festival without a kimono in my opinion. I love the flow of them, how they pair well with everything, and they can take a super casual outfit and dress it up just a bit. Fun flare! I got this one at a crafts fair but any colorful kimono will do the job! 7. And last but definitely not least, this light up headband is everything. Also a gift from Lindsay…yes she’s an angel actually. I felt like such a fire fly floating around the grounds with my glow in the dark floral head piece. I was a fairy guys. A real fairy! I’m not sure where she got this one, but if you pop ‘light up floral headband’ into google, you’ll find a ton! They’re the most fun to have at any night time outdoor event. Okay, now back to the shenangians! Oh, PS I kept almost all of this in a fanny pack. It was a definite must have! Okay okay, so this is me and Jocelyn, she won the Flama contest and we got to spend the day with her filming all kinds of fun stuff including a sriracha taco eating contest, and spoiler alert…I WON! hahaha Video will be live on their channel soon! Check out other comedy sketches I created from them here.
Some things we did besides laugh our butts off and film a ton of fun sketches, we dancing around to music, Nikki and I frolicked on the grass like hummingbirds, yes an oxymoron I know, we were having so much fun! Eating all the food from the food trucks, partaking in beverage drinking, singing, dancing, and merriment. I love festivals.
And this is me walking to the car before the festival, please note my fanny pack just casually on my hip and my headband ready to go! So much fun! If we met at the Uforia festival and you got a picture with me, please tag me (@jess_lizama) on Twitter or Instagram, I’d love to make a collage with them!
I hope you get to go out to at least one festival this summer, let me know in the comments if you are or if you have! I love hearing stories! Hugs from me to you, Jess
