Vaping With Friends – What We Thought We Knew!

If you would have told me that today I’d have my friends over to try vape mods and e-juices I would’ve given you an eye roll because, moms who vape?! Seriously though we had the BEST time laughing over what we thought we knew about vaping and trying the different flavors!

I’ve vaped essential oils before but never an e-juice and I found the same went for a lot of my friends. So when I got the opportunity to try out different mods from Mt Baker Vapor and the e-juices they offer, I called my friends over and here we are!

It’s incredible the amount of negativity that surrounds vaping and I believe it’s largely due to misinformation and lack of individual education. I’m not a nicotine smoker and as a mother I’d never promote something that I believed was a ‘gate way’ to anything- this was something that also came up as a hot topic. However, I will promote something that I myself have tried and tested and I will absolutely promote something that I think can help people when used with proper intention.

My mom has been a cigarette smoker since she was a teenager, I grew up with it my whole life. So I know 1) the effects of smoking  2) the effects of peer pressure and 3) the effects vaping can have on someone transitioning away from smoking cigarettes and finally weening off of nicotine all together with the help of vaping. So it really bothered me that I got flack for wanting to try vaping and be more educated about it and less curious about all the hype.

I understand the concern but again, you have to inform yourself on the issues that concern you. I was hugely concerned about this “popcorn lung” that kept coming up any time I talked about or searched vaping. It was a lung disease in the 90’s that became headline news because of a chemical used in artificial butter popcorn factories. Lung disease … now that scared me. But I did my research and Mt Baker Vapor DOES NOT use that chemical in any of their products! Relief!

I’ve never vaped with my friends before, so Mt Baker Vapor to sent us different mods to try and a selection of e-juices. They were even so kind to send me more of their 0-Nic juices to try knowing that I’m not a nicotine smoker. We got to try the Joyetech All In One, Vaporesso Swag Kit, and Smoant Charon TS 218. Buzz words haha! I had no idea what we were looking at or that they’re called mods! Luckily though they’re much easier to figure out and operate than they look.

Essentially, we received the beginner, intermediate, and advanced mods and we tried them all! We went through the different flavors and some of our favorites were Hawk Sauce (berry fruitiness), Green Apple (sweet and sour yumminess), and Cinnatoast Munch (I mean! It tastes like your favorite cereal)! Fan favorite of the mods was the Joyetech AIO vape pen because the ladies thought it was dainty enough to toss into your handbag and they loved the design! Joe really loved the Smoant Charon with the sapphire blue Uwell Valyrian sub ohm tank <— more buzz words, sub ohm tank! He loved how sturdy it felt and that it was a glossy glass mod with a rad touch screen. I loved the Vaporesso Swag Kit box mod! I liked that it’s palm sized, so medium in comparison to the vape pen and bigger box mod. It has a spin push top (twist open) design which if you’re tactile like me you’ll find that fun too, and an OLED screen on the side.

I really enjoyed trying out vaping with my friends, debunking some rumors, and having a genuinely good time with my people who are like-minded. I hope you enjoyed the video and please enter my giveaway! Mt Baker Vapor was so generous to gift 3 of you with one of these: Joyetech AIO, Vaporesso Swag Kit, and an Innokin MVP4 vaporizer. FALL FASHION LOOK BOOK!

Fall fashion in L.A. looks a lot like summer fashion in L.A.! We’re spoiled in California with its sunny days and 85 degree conditions, so when it gets cooler than 75 we all freak out! Here are my some of my favorite fashion pieces of the season … and ahem Black Friday sale steals!!! Because, pictures or it didn’t happen!

One of my favorite looks the ‘casual chic’ look. I wear this out to run errands and trek around the town in. I paired these high-waisted vegan leather leggings with a wrap around crop top and one of my favorite pieces – this maxi blazer. Blazers just make any outfit feel a bit more dressed up, and in juxtaposition of that, I completed this outfit with these Nike Thea running shoes. I’ve been pairing these shoes with a bunch of different looks lately, the style of it make them feel more formal, and in this case they serve to dress down the look in a casual chic kind of way.

Here’s a front view of this outfit … I call this pose the ‘flailing bird’. I like to throw myself into awkward positions when I’m posing in public, just makes it more fun for me when people begin to stare! These sunglasses have been a summer favorite of mine and I plan on wearing them on through next summer! Another accessory I’ve loved through the seasons is this Michael Kors purse, it’s sleek and classic, and one of my favorite color combinations – navy blue and gold.

What’s a Fall look book without including the ever coveted over-the-knee boots?! Of course when these babies went on sale I had to have them! I have these boots in tan also, but black boots feel more sleek when paired with other solid colors. This look I wear out to lunch meetings and when I’m feeling fancy enough to show off some bare midriff!

This look could be more casual if you paired the outfit with some booties and swapped the vest for a cardigan. I love putting together high waisted shorts with crop tops, especially if they are asymmetrical. This crop top has a higher neck line so a simple silver necklace and cat eye sunnies were all the accessories it needed. Besides, this moto vest was a great accessory on its own with silver hardware, zippers, and front snaps. Scalloped shorts like these Nasty Gal ones are great for every shape and size trust me! I’m short and I felt like the shape of these were perfect and weren’t cut at unflattering angles. Sheer tights and these thigh high boots complete the look for a trendy and sexy ensemble!

I saved the best for last! Take this look out on a date night, a girls night out, or if you’re just feeling like your sexy self! This is a more daring look with some classy, and casual, flare to it; featuring a strappy cut out bralette and high waisted scuba leggings.

If this feels like it’s more skin than you’d like to bare, have no fear, I brought back the maxi blazer to calm the nerves. This knee length skinny scarf also adds to the modesty of the top, drawing the eye to the classiness of the bow and not the lines in the triangle top. These scuba leggings are also a great way to bare less yet be more bold, they’re high waisted and feature a double buckle that you often see in dress pants. A wonderful addition to this look which also carry out the casualness of it, are these faux leather loafers. Shoes really do set the tempo for a look. These more casual shoes dress the outfit down more than a pair of pumps would. Have fun with it though and if you love your pumps, wear them like no one is watching … or is that dancing? (both!)

I hope you enjoyed this Fall look book, these were some of the pieces I picked up after Black Friday last week and I just had to share! If you’d like to see this in moving form, check out the look book over on my YouTube channel where I twirl like nobody’s business!

What are you most looking forward to this holiday season? The fashion? The food? Did you splurge on sales like I did?! Let me know and I’ll see you Friday with a festive beauty tutorial!

Jlo at the Oscars

GET THE LOOK: JLO AT THE OSCAR’S!

Award show season and New York Fashion Week are the two biggest fashion and beauty inspirations for me and I have to say, at the Oscar’s this year I had SOOO many favorites! Beyonce and JLo topped my list per the usual, so I thought I’d give you a step by step on my take on JLo’s look! So below is my tutorial and listed beneath the photo set is the method and the products I used. It’s fun to play in makeup and I hope you put your own spin on this look and TAG me! <3

makeupOne
1. Prep your skin and then blend out your favorite foundation, shown here is my favorite Chanel Vitalumiere. Then using L.A. Girl’s Concealer draw fun tribal-esque lines under your eyes, between your brows, down the bridge of your nose, and under your chin (to conceal & highlight)
2. After blending that out, fill in any sparse areas in your brows, I’m using Anastacia’s blonde duo kit in dark brown with a firm slanted brush
3. Using Anastacia’s contour kit in light/medium, take a slanted contour brush and contour your face (think a backwards ‘3’ from your temple to your chin, and contour your nose too)
4. Load up a medium flat brush with the color Sonic from the Urban Decay Vice 3  palette and press the color in from lash line to crease creating a wash of this burgundy-pinky color

5. Take a fluffly crease brush, load it up with the color Alchemy from the same UD palette and brush that color into your crease, sweeping it out slightly for a baby cat eye effect
6. Line your upper lash line with your favorite black pencil and smudge it out a bit with a smudge pencil brush to again enhance that baby winged look
7. Take a slanted brush, dip it into that same Alchemy color and trace just along your lower lash line (since JLo didn’t use any liner on her water line, this enhanced her eyes without making them smaller, woot!)
8. Load up a fluffy blush brush with this beautiful and bright Stila blush and sweep them across the apples of your cheeks

9. Go back into that Anastasia Contour Kit and use the Fawn color to highlight your temples and bridge of nose and then use the Banana color to set the concealer under your eyes – it’s the perfect setting powder
10. Line your lips with this awesome buildable lip liner from Clinique which best matched my Patone Universe Marsala layering in Dusty Cedar
11. Take a pinky-nude gloss like the one I’m using here from Tom Ford in Tawny Pink and layer it over your liner and walaaa!

You are a glowy pinky-rose bombshell!!! I loved this look so much! I tied my hair back in a sleek ponytail and topped off the look with a pair of signature JLo hoop earrings and ta-daaaa! I’m totally channeling her in my final pose haha. I had a lot of fun interpretting this look and I’ll be doing it again later this week with a look from Beyonce that I’m obsessed with!

Fall look 2: The Line Dance and The Off Duty Ballerina!

Hello! Welcome back for part 2 of 6 of our #StayingOnTrend&StickingToABudget Fall inspired look book! Each week I’m taking one makeup trend and one hairstyle trend that you’ll see this Fall and putting them together with a full look! Today is a sleek and simple look, taking the top knot and the smokey eye and pairing them together for a casual business meeting.

The ‘line dance’ makeup look is just like your everyday liner look, which ever you choose as your go to- it’s just a bit heavier and more consistent in form, with pencil on top pencil on bottom, or liquid on top liquid on bottom. Whether you wing it out, make the line thin or thick, it’s all about the liner and less about the rest of the face. I opted to go with my pencil kohl liner on both top and bottom, and per the usual I would wing it out a bit at the ends but this time I didn’t. Instead I smudged it with a slanted brush and swept a golden brown color under my bottom lashes, kept my lips pretty neutral, and also unlike me, I PUT MY HAIR UP! Like what?!

Yes I totally put my hair up today! I’m a hair down kinda girl….everyday. But this ‘off duty ballerina’ is just a top knot, clean version of a bun. More sleek, less loose pieces, more spray! It took me about 30 seconds to achieve this top bun and about 30 pounds of hairspray 😉 I used my fingers to comb through my hair pulling it all up in a pony tail and then by method of ‘twist, turn, tuck’ I achieved the look you see here 😀 Then I popped on my Free People head piece and my hair and makeup was done!

For my outfit to go with this hair and makeup look, I kept it casual and comfortable with my JustFab jumper and jacket, and my Calvin Klein snake print pumps. Best day look and in under ten minutes from head to toe, I think I’ve accomplished the impossible! For the tutorial on this look, head on over to my beauty channel here where I show you step by five minute step just how to get this look, and all under $20! I used all drug store brand makeup with the exception of my eye liner which is from Makeup Forever. For the life of me I couldn’t find my Revlon one bah!

Makeup items for this look:
Sonia Kashuk Luminous foundation in Buff Chamois
Pro Conceal concealer in light
Makeup Forever eyeliner pencil in Zero
Physicians Formula Shimmer Palette
Loreal Voluminous black mascara by Miss Manga
ELF contouring blush and bronzing powder duo
EOS lip balm
Dove hairspray

Thank you for sharing part of your afternoon with me! Happy Fall makeup happenings and I’ll see you next week for ‘Bare Minimum’ and the ‘Gym Sleek’, oh yes….the gym sleek. Let’s do this!

Bear hugs,

Jess

The Types Of Couples In Couples Therapy!

So besides reading my rambles here on my blog, you can also see me live on YouTube, where I have 3 channels! Yes three! haha. I do sketch comedy amongst other things, and the sketch featured below in particular, I’m super proud of! The Types Of Couples In Couples Therapy!

I wrote it, produced it, starred in it, edited it, the whole nine! As YouTubers we wear all the hats when it comes to our productions so when we complete them, they are our mini masterpieces and I say that about this one because it’s the first big production I had to put together myself.

It’s all about the types of couples in couples therapy. Of course this is a spoof so there’s the arguers- they yell. A lot! They’ve been together forever, they don’t listen to one another any more, but they’re still very passionate….even about fighting!

There’s the honey mooners- they are honey mooning of course, still new in their relationship, still fresh in their love and admiration for one another, they don’t actually have problems but they want to keep it that way.

And lastly we have the relationship hypochondriacs, who have been together for a while but think they have issues when they really do love one another they just can’t seem to stop nagging at each other.

I took these characters and amplified their dialogue to a ridiculous level and made a sketch of it 😀 Enjoy my shenanigans!

Thanks for all of your support, I love the love!

Many dysfunctional hugs,
